3. Time is of the essence
Saving time without compromising on nutrition
As discussed in Mintel’s 2017 Global Food & Drink Trend “Time is of the Essence” report, the paradox between fast and slow often manifests itself at meal times. Though consumers want to save time on some occasions, they are also willing to spend at least some time when the mood serves them. The focus on cooking time has led to the growth of myriad short-cuts, including extended shelf-life herb purees, quick-cooking sides and home-delivery services. Many time-saving solutions allow consumers to short-cut one portion of the meal-making process without sacrificing key elements such as nutrition or personalisation. For example, Gourmet to Go by Rustan has released a Greek Caesar Salad & Herbed Chicken in the Philippines. This is a nutritious ready-meal that helps consumers save time.
