Japanese snack housed in fishy package
Funazushi, a precursor to the seafood dishes enjoyed in modern-day sushi houses, is a salty, fermented fish snack popular in Japan. Design house Masahiro Minami decided to give the centuries-old dish an update by putting it in modern packaging.
The fish is protected by clear vacuum packaging. The outer paperboard packaging is stylized to resemble a fish, with the see-through “scales” giving a glimpse of the treat inside. Photo: Masahiro Minami
