However, Haspel noted that the antibiotic debate shines a light on the disconnect between what consumers want and what is actually good for them.
“The reason people want antibiotic-free is because they think there are traces of antibiotics in meat. The issue of antibiotic resistant bacteria is not on people’s radar. It’s almost an accident that it has taken root.”
