October 17: More arrests
The Changhua District Court grants a request to detain Wei Ying-chung (pictured), now a former chairman of Ting Hsin, who ran the oil side of the business when the scandal erupted. "The presiding judges recognise there is a great possibility that Wei Ying-chung committed fraud and breached food safety management regulations," the court says in a statement. Another Ting Hsin executive is detained along with Wei Ying-chung, and four former and current group employees have already been arrested.
