Social, economic, and political instability have created an environment that fosters poor health for many children in the Dominican Republic. The children Vitamin Angels is reaching live in bateys, slums attached to what were once sugar plantations. Unrecognized by the governments of DR or Haiti, access to healthcare, education, and more is out of these children’s reach.
Vitamin Angels is partnering with a relief agency focused exclusively on supporting the batey population with medical care, and the vitamins they are distributing are making a difference. Mothers are reporting easier pregnancies, healthier babies, and thriving children.
