The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) is targeting seafood production improvements in the Asia Pacific region to keep prices affordable and prevent sustainability crises similar to those seen in land agriculture.
The efforts of thousands of marine managers and scientists, fishermen and NGOs have significantly improved the welfare of fisheries in much of the developed world, but little is known of the vast swathes of oceans that are believed to be still being overfished.
