AB InBev is buying Sydney craft brewer 4 Pines, in a deal that 4 Pines says will enable its plans for national and global expansion.

Founded a decade ago, 4 Pines has breweries in Brookvale and Manly, near Sydney’s northern beaches.

Its portfolio includes its Keller Door range: a series of small batch one-off brews.

4 Pines co-founder Jaron Mitchell said: “The deal will enable 4 Pines to expand its operations and retain and grow its people, culture and identity.

"4 Pines will continue to create its iconic beer experiences from its Brookvale and Manly breweries.

“The access 4 Pines will receive to AB InBev’s global resources will provide a platform to expedite the achievement of 4 Pines’ long term goals of customer and employee experience, environmental and social responsibility and innovation.”

The 4 Pines team and management will stay in place. The value of the deal has not been disclosed.

In Australia, AB InBev also owns Melbourne-headquarted Carlton & United Breweries (CUB), which brews Victoria Bitter, Carlton Draught and Cascade among others.
