Today we can reveal that Dr Brian Kennedy, Director of the Centre for Healthy Longevity, National University Health System (Singapore), will deliver a keynote talk titled: 'Translating discoveries: How substantial progress is being made to delay human ageing and extend health span.'
His synopisis states: "The World is rapidly ageing, leading to an increase in a range of chronic diseases and enhanced susceptibility to infectious diseases such as Covid-19. In the last few decades, substantial progress has been made toward understanding the molecular events that precipitate ageing and interventions have been developed to slow or reverse the process. This talk will outline the most promising interventions, the new biomarkers that attempt to measure biologic age and the strategies to validate both interventions and biomarkers in humans. The longevity field is rapidly growing and it is possible that the deficits of aging may be delayed or even reversed in the near future."

Brian is internationally recognised for his research in the basic biology of ageing and as a visionary committed to translating research discoveries into new ways of detecting, delaying, preventing and treating human ageing and associated diseases. He is a Distinguished Professor in Biochemistry and Physiology at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at National University Singapore and serves as Director of the Centre for Healthy Longevity at the National University Health System, the Healthy Longevity Translational Research Programme, and the Asian Centre for Reproductive Longevity and Equality.
Brian was the President and CEO of the Buck Institute for Research on Ageing, and he maintained a professorship there through to 2020. Brian has an adjunct appointment at the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Washington, where he was a faculty member from 2001 to 2010. In addition, he is also actively involved with a number of Biotechnology companies and serves as a Co-Editor-In-Chief at Aging Cell. Finally, Brian has a track record of interaction in China, where he was a Visiting Professor at the Aging Research Institute at Guangdong Medical College from 2009 to 2014. His Ph.D. was performed in the laboratory of Leonard Guarente at M.I.T., where he published the first paper linking Sirtuins to ageing.
