Today we can reveal that Dr Daisuke Fujiwara, Kirin Holdings' Health Science Department General Manager, will deliver a keynote talk titled ‘From research to innovation: Strategies to maximise healthy among the world's oldest population – Japan.’
His synopsis states: “Japan has the oldest population in the world, resulting in it having some of the highest ageing society-related needs in the world, leading to many specific services and businesses appearing to specifically cater to the elderly population. Kirin Holdings has firm roots in Japan, and although the firm is best known for its beers, it is now also prioritising the tackling of local health-related issues by leveraging R&D expertise, and developing strategic products to improve health in areas such as immunity, eye care and cognition.
In this presentation, Kirin Holdings' Health Science Department General Manager Daisuke Fujiwara will share the firm's insights into the healthy ageing business prospects in Japan, the opportunities for new product development, and the prospects for growth across the wider APAC region.

As an author of more than 50 publications, Dr Daisuke’s main research interests are in immunology and microbiology. Throughout of the career, he had found a number of novel bio-active compounds or organisms which contribute to human healthy life and was awarded by various academic societies He attended the University of Tokyo and achieved a Ph.D. He started out in the central laboratories for Kirin before moving to be a visiting researcher in RIKEN research centre for allergy and immunology, the national research center of Japan. In 2005-2007, he completed his post-doc at the David Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA. His current major role is to link Kirin’s scientific novel findings to business schemes based upon the credibility of science.
