Nestlé has ceased its production of Marella Jubes in Australia, which is part of Allen’s confectionery line, after the brand experienced a declining consumer demand.

The Swiss food giant has stopped selling the fruit-flavored gum drops since June this year, according to spokesperson Margaret Stuart.

She said Nestlé’s lolly fans “have switched their loyalty to other products in our range.”

According to ‘Just-Food,’ Nestlé’s Broadford, Victoria, factory, which produces Snakes Alive, Green Frogs and Spearmint Leaves, switched to a 24-hour, five-day working week and took on 15 more staff to cater to the increased appetite for lollies in August, 2018.

Nestlé Australia also divested its chocolate brand Violet Crumble earlier this year to focus on major brands including Allen’s, KitKat, Milkybar and Soothers, ConfectioneryNews previously reported.

YES! bars: wholesome and delicious

In other news, Nestlé also launched a range of nutrition bars, made with fruit, vegetable and nuts, in the UK and Ireland, called ‘Yes!’

The product line, which the company said is a ‘good source of protein, vegan and contains 5g of sugar’ each, includes five varieties: beetroot & apple; quinoa & chilli; sea salt, dark chocolate & almond; cranberry & dark chocolate; coffee, dark chocolate & cherry.

Four of the bars that contain lemon, quinoa and chilli are also a good source of fiber, added Nestlé.

Louisa Parrillo, senior brand manager at YES! said the new brand sets out with the bold ambition to prove to consumers that “wholesome products within this snacking category can be utterly delicious too.

“I love YES!, everybody here loves YES!, and we cannot wait to share these exceptional bars with the UK and Ireland.”

She noted the bars were developed by a dedicated in-house team of experts, who have “perfectly balanced taste and nutrition to make compromise a thing of the past and adventurous snacking a part of future.”
