SunPork Group to grow Swickers bacon plant
In the AUS$60 million expansion plan, designed to ‘future-proof’ the site, there will be a new slaughter room and the facility will be capable of processing at three times the speed and volume of the existing plant.
The Swickers site currently processes over 90% of the pigs in Queensland, and this expansion is expected to allow the broader pig industry in the state to grow with the increased processing capacity. Swickers is also the only export-accredited pig abattoir in Queensland.
Expected to take 12 months to complete, the expansion project will be in partnership with construction firm Wiley.

Senior project manager Greg Lynn added: “I am looking forward to delivering this project for Swickers with local suppliers in the South Burnett region. This project has been a vision of the company for some time and I am excited to be helping them to realise it.”
