In an exclusive video interview, Vince Macciocchi, president of ADM’s WILD Flavors and Specialty Ingredients (WFSI) business, outlines the benefits he believes the 8,900-square-foot (825-square-metre) facility will provide for manufacturers.
We also ask him where he sees the most growth potential for the company in Singapore, and to elaborate on the KPIs the company will be using to measure the success of the new site, which houses a food and flavour analytic lab; a beverage and dairy applications lab and pilot plant; a bakery and confectionery lab; a meat and savoury lab; a sweet creation lab; sensory evaluation facilities; and a customer innovation centre.
ADM acquired WILD Flavors in 2014 in a $2.3bn deal in a bid to tap into the trend for natural flavours, with former WILD executive Macciocchi overseeing the integration.
Healthy ageing
On the video he outlines the benefits that both sides have brought to the table, as well as giving his take on demand for clean label and natural products in Asia-Pacific, and the business opportunities afforded by the region’s ageing population.
Macciocchi previously told us that the new site will lead to 50 new roles being created in Singapore, including food scientists, flavourists and applications experts, along with sales, marketing and regulatory personnel. He said he was confident that the new recruits would be from the local community.
“This new facility is yet another important step as we continue to enhance our portfolio and our capabilities around the globe,” he added. “Consumers and customers are looking for new, innovative foods and beverages, and they want them quicker than ever before. With this new facility, we hope to be able to deliver on this.”
