Niutang keeping up with demand through fourth expansion in five years

Niutang Chemical, China’s leading producer of sucralose and aspartame, has announced that its core product lines of folic acid, TGIC, sucralose and aspartame saw an 18% increase in sales. As a result of this sustained growth, the company will begin construction of a new sucralose facility before the end of this month.

Niutang’s sucralose manufacturing facilities have been running at full capacity throughout the last year, so the new plant’s capacity of 1,200 tonnes will take some of the pressure off the company. The development is Niutang’s fourth expansion in five year.

"Our new sucralose facility includes new technologies, automation and process improvement steps to ensure we are managing overall production costs," said Licheng Wang Jr., general manager of Changzhou Niutang.

The recent expansion of the company's L-Phenylalanine manufacturing facility will allow Niutang to better control its raw material costs and maintain a stable supply of high-quality L-Phenylalanine for aspartame production. The additional capacity will be available later this year.

"The growth of our company is due to our steadfast focus on what our customers need, including minimising production costs and expanding our product offerings," said Wang. "Once our L-Phenylalanine plant is up and running, we will have even more flexibility to offer our customers high-quality, cost-efficient Aspartame. In addition, our expanded offerings of natural high intensity sweeteners allow our customers the flexibility of introducing stevia and monk fruit into their portfolio of products."

Although Niutang's folic acid demand remained flat in 2012, the company's process improvements allowed the company to continue meeting the supply requirements and strict quality regulations for pharmaceuticals, dietary supplements and foods.

Congratulation for Niutang 1200 tonnes sucralose

Posted by Peter Zou,

As Niutang becomes the largest sucralose producer with this new record, it has certainly put pressure on other Chinese leading sucralose manufacturers like JK and Techno Sucralose, etc. In fact, this news indicates Niutang will compete head to head with all the ingredient distributors to digest such a capacity. Distributors may rely on smaller sucralose manufacturers to reduce their costs to compete with Niutang in the foreseeable future.
