Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) has appointed Michael Edmonds as global marketing general manager. He will succeed to Glen Feist in late March.

Edmonds will take charge of the Australian red meat industry’s levy-funded global marketing activities after working as a general manager at Simplot Australia, a protein provider to the foodservice and retail sector.

MLA managing director Scott Hansen said: “Mr Edmonds brings over two decades of experience and a unique blend of marketing and industry expertise to this new role, having worked in both trade and direct consumer marketing of global food and beverage brands.”

The new appointment starts the restructuring of MLA to bring domestic and international marketing together under the same unit.

“A single marketing unit can be more responsive to fluctuations in global marketing conditions and more efficient resource allocation,” Hansen said.
