Jens Böhm, commercial managing director at Beneo Palatinit said that: “We see from trend and market monitoring that for clear-cut values of nutritionally optimised food products, consumers and markets are prepared to accept increased price levels.”
Isomalt is derived from pure sugar-beet, and is said to be a low glycaemic (low GI), reduced calorie, tooth-friendly alternative to sugar. It is slightly less sweet than sugar and can be adapted to suit specific taste profile needs.
Böhm maintains that despite continuously rising inflation rates and industry price indexes over the past years, Beneo had managed to keep prices stable “until this year.”
He added that in order to maintain high quality standards as well as to ensure elasticity in the supply chain, a “price increase is inevitable to cover costs and remain profitable.”
