Sino-Australian ties to get tighter

A joint report by China and Australia has predicted that bilateral co-operation between the nations in agricultural investment and technology will flourish.

The report was based on research from China’s commerce and agriculture ministries and the departments of foreign affairs and trade, and agriculture, fisheries and forestry in Australia.

It stated that both countries have been facing the same challenges in maintaining and increasing their grain output.

Although mutual investment between the two countries' agricultural sectors is small, it has increased and become more diverse, the report said, adding that both countries will now focus on improving output efficiency through sustainable development and the expansion of output capacity.

The report also cited soil and land resources in north Australia, the commercialisation of new new agricultural technology, and food processing and logistics services as potential areas for cooperation.
