Infused with green tea
Matcha – green tea powder made almost exclusively in Japan – is growing in popularity as a flavouring for all manners of food and drink products.
A popular trend at the Japan Food Show was flavouring noodles with Matcha, which also provides the products with an eye-catching green colour. The move takes Matcha in a new direction, after being used most widely to infuse tea, as well as ice creams, sweets and snacks.
Known for its reported health benefits, Matcha capitalises on a recent health trend among Japanese producers, which may prove inviting to consumers looking for healthy food and drink alternatives.
