Where does the unsellable sell well?
With increasing pressure on the earth's resources and a burgeoning global population, the race is on to find more sustainable sources of protein.
But where in the world do people actually want to eat things like insects, algae and meat grown in a petri dish?
According to a Mintel report, the Chinese are the most adventurous eaters with over half saying they would be interested in trying insects compared with only 27% of Brits or 26% of Americans.
Chinese consumers are even more open to the idea of lab-grown meat, with nearly 60% saying they would like to try it. And while only one quarter of Chinese consumers said they would like to try seaweed, this may have been because it lacked novelty with 71% saying they had already eaten it.
