Food culture traditions at home
Perhaps the most notable disparity in Asia-Pacific food culture is at home. Cooking for family and friends happens far more often in China and Australia than it does in Singapore and Korea, with 75% of Chinese consumers and 61% of Australians cooking for others twice a week or more, compared to just 42% of Singaporean and 40% of Korean consumers.
This does not mean that food is not considered an important focus of daily life, however. Most Chinese (68%) and Singaporeans (55%) say that food is extremely or very important to their social lives, while 43% of Koreans and one third (33%) of Australians said they also felt the same way.
