Australian Pork Limited (APL) has announced plans to launch an independent review into its past performance.

The levy body has commissioned ACIL Allen Consulting to undertake an independent review of its activities in the past three years as part of the requirements under the Statutory Funding Agreement between the organisation and the Australian government.

The aim of the review, which takes place between March and June, is to assess APL’s efficiency and effectiveness, as well as its transparency with levy payers, stakeholders and government.

In a statement APL said: "Stakeholder involvement, particularly APL members and non-member producers, is important to the success of this independent review. ACIL Allen will be facilitating eight telephone-based focus groups, which APL members and non-member producers are invited to participate in."
