Thailand inspiring increased export efforts in food sector

Thailand’s Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) is pushing Thai food business operators to become more competitive and invest in export activities to drive business.

Nuntawan Sakuntanaga, director-general of DITP, said that Thailand’s exports are set to grow around 15% this year, with food remaining a major export segment.

“DITP has formulated measures to increase the competitiveness of Thai food business operators, as well as to open up new distribution channels in emerging high-potential markets such as ASEAN (Associated South East Asian Nations), China, India, Russia and Africa,”​ Sakuntanaga said.

“This will help offset any possible decline in orders from some of our key markets which are facing economic difficulties,”​ she added.

The department has co-organised the food exposition, THAIFEX, happening later this month set to act as a platform for Thai manufacturers to showcase their products and technologies.
