Pakistan is looking to boost credit lending facilities for players in the food and agricultural sectors to encourage a greater number of value added food and agri product exports

The country’s Ministry of Commerce and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) said that it has taken up the matter with the State Bank of Pakistan for provision of credit lines to farmers and food exporters in this regard.

TDAP said that, in line with its mandate to develop a strategic roadmap for the agro-food sector, it would hold quarterly meetings with the central bank along with relevant stakeholders for reviewing the current policies pertaining to provision of credit for the food products sector.
