Korean companies pair up to deliver CZ
entered into a contract to develop, produce and market a new
supplement containing Eugene Science's proprietary
cholesterol-lowering ingredient CZ in their own country following
the success the technology has had abroad.
Under the contract, Eugene Science said it will develop various types of dietary supplement plant sterols using RexGene's distribution networks. According to Eugene, its manufacturing technique is novel and allows phytosterols to be added to high-cholesterol, fat-soluble food such as yogurt, soup, ice cream, mayonnaise, ketchup, salad oil, dressing and margarine.
Eugene's phytosterol technology has been marketed by agribusiness Archer Daniels Midlands (ADM) as part of its CardioAid family of ingredients in Europe and North America, but it has lacked a strong partner to get into its own country with. As such Eugene Science said RexGene will give it business opportunities to broaden and diversify raw material and end product markets.
RexGene is reported to be collaborating domestically with pharmaceutical companies and a recently completed healthy beverage production facility to develop products with CZ.
CZ, is a patented, nanoscience-based, water-soluble functional food ingredient containing natural plant sterols that help maintain healthy cholesterol levels by inhibiting its absorption. CZ is available in capsule form, or as a food or beverage additive.
