A stellar line-up of speakers has been announced for the second Food Vision Asia summit being held in Singapore – while  food start-ups and entrepreneurs are being urged to enter our Trailblazer’s contest so they can share the stage with Asia’s key food and nutrition decision makers.

Following a highly successful inaugural event in 2016, the event returns to the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Singapore, from April 25-27.

Among the first wave of high-level speakers announced are:

Professor Christiani Jeyakumar Henry, Director of Clinical Nutrition, Singapore Institute for Clinical Sciences and Director, Clinical Nutrition Research Centre, Singapore. Prof Henry will be speaking about the particular health challenges faced in Asia, most notably diabetes and obesity, and how food and nutrition firms can build markets to help consumers tackle these issues.

Sophia Nadur, Founder and CEO of Tg Green Teas. Sophia will draw on her own experience as a wellness entrepreneur that has brought the benefits of Chinese green teas to the UK market, to show how Asian food and drink companies can harness global opportunities with a ‘back to nature’ approach.

Fraser Thompson, Director, AlphaBeta. The former World Bank official and Senior Fellow at the McKinsey Global Institute will explore the business opportunities offered by the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Fraser will show how Asia, with its large share of arable land, rapid consumption growth and big potential efficiency improvements has the most to gain.

Dr Iain Brownlee, Director of Operations for Food & Human Nutrition, Newcastle University International Singapore. Dr Brownlee will discuss how understanding and influencing the diets of children and young adults needs to be a priority by examining two recent studies among Singaporean youngsters.

There will also be spotlights on Japan, India and China, examining the state of their national markets and new opportunities for business entry. You can see the full agenda at the website www.foodvisionasia.com, with more announcements to be made in the coming weeks.

Start-up success stories

This year’s event also has a new addition in the form of Trailblazers – where entrepreneurial start-ups from around the globe are invited to share how they are tackling some of the industry’s greatest challenges and meeting the demands of consumers. Find out how to enter at www.foodvisionasia.com/trailblazers. Successful entrepreneurs will be invited to present as part of the Trailblazer session and share the stage with some of the industry’s most celebrated innovators.

Meanwhile Food Vision Asia will again coincide with two of trade body Food Industry Asia’s key 2017 events.

The event will kick-off following the FIA Annual General Meeting, with the FIA active in the programme throughout the three-day event.

On the final day, April 27, Food Vision Asia will be the 2017 location for the third edition of another FIA initiative, the Asia Roundtable on Food Innovation for Improved Nutrition (ARoFIIN).  Held annually since 2015, ARoFIIN brings senior delegates representing government, academia and industry from across Asia together to exchange views and plan initiatives to bring about health-enhancing initiatives in the region’s food industry.
