Alchem International yesterday inaugurated its expanded Neemrana facility in India. The Rajasthan plant will exclusively produce USP Sennosides. Extracted from senna leaves and pods, sennosides are used as laxatives in traditional and modern medicine preparations.
“Expansion of our facility was necessary to answer the growing demand for 60% USP Sennosides. The fully automated facility has a production capacity of more than 75 metric tons per year,” said Raman Mehta, president of Alchem.
“Alchem’s facility also incorporates a state-of-the-art laboratory control able to test USP monographs and to support our customers with drug master file requirements.”
The company integrates its production processes, from cultivating its own senna leaves and pods to producing its own energy from the byproducts of its Sennoside extraction.
