COMSTECH seminar aimed at food safety

COMSTECH is holding a seminar on food production and processing technologies aimed at bring different industry voices together to optimise food safety.

COMSTECH, the Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) organised the seminar in Islamabad, Pakistan which runs until tomorrow (8 November).

It will feature sessions on the production of crops for processing, processing technologies for the crops, livestock, poultry and dairy production and processing and food safety from a consumer perspective.

The organisers said food security “encompasses three A’s, namely Availability, Accessibility and Affordability”.

“It is well known that a significant percentage of food gets spoiled either in storage or in transportation and thus impacts food availability, resulting sometimes in shortages and increase in prices,” they added.
