Two different memorandum of understandings have been created around food safety.

ANSES (French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety) and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) signed an agreement to promote health risk analysis methodologies and laboratory techniques.

The deal was signed during the state visit to India of French President François Hollande.

In April 2014, ANSES hosted a delegation from the FSSAI to present its activities and in January 2015, ANSES visited New Delhi to confirm this planned cooperation and speak to technical experts.

The agreement aims to improve scientific and technical cooperation between the two health agencies and will facilitate exchanges of data and know-how, joint work and training.

Work with Iran

Meanwhile, RIKILT Wageningen UR will sign a memorandum of understanding with Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences (SBUMS) in Tehran, Iran.

Iran exports various products to the EU, including pistachios and saffron. With the boycott lifted, the country plans to strengthen its international trade partnerships but must meet standards that apply to the EU and other major trade partners.

RIKILT has experience training laboratories that work for the national government, is a national and European reference laboratory and internationally-oriented research institute.

At the request of the Iranian government, a plan is being drafted to improve agricultural production and Wageningen will submit recommendations for setting up a water institute.
