Contaminated frozen food ordered off shelves in China

28-Nov-2011

In another food scandal in China, products manufactured by a leading frozen foods brand, Wanchai Ferry, have been ordered off market shelves in Nanjing.

Frozen dumplings made by the Hong Kong-based manufacturer were found to contain golden staph, a life threatening bacteria, claims a local report.

The Nanjing Industrial and Commercial Administration ordered the recall. A spokesperson for the administration said that all such products have been removed and that it is waiting for the latest quality check results.

Media reports said that the sale of frozen food in the region has plunged dramatically as a result of the scandal.
